Tucker update - 6 months
It’s hard to believe our little guy is now 6 months old! The past 2 months have been lots of fun as we have seen more of his personality emerge. He’s making lots of babbling noises now, including cute little giggles when he gets tickled. His biggest milestone in the past 2 months has been learning to eat solid foods. It took him a while to get the hang of eating from a spoon, but now he sits in his highchair, with his mouth wide open like a little bird, and he kicks and squeals if you don’t spoon fast enough! He hasn’t been a picky eater so far, but his favorites are pears and sweet potatoes. He even makes “mmmm” noises when he eats them!
Pretty soon he will be sitting up by himself and crawling. Right now, he can “swim” when placed on his tummy, but he hasn’t figured out how to get moving just yet. It’s kinda nice for me, because I can put him on a blanket on the floor and he is pretty content to stay there and play. I know that once he becomes mobile, he’ll be all over the place. He has a couple of new toys, including a Fisher Price toolbench that has a hammer and a “whack-a-mole” style surface with little construction guys that pop up. It plays the most obnoxious songs, but I often find myself driving to work and humming the words “Pulling, sliding, tapping, turning too; with your toolbench there’s so much to do; you’ll learn shapes and colors; like yellow, red and blue…”). Anyway, I am sure it’s just the beginning of obnoxious kiddie songs! Besides playing with his toolbench, he also has several other hobbies including drooling, blowing raspberries (usually with a mouthful of green beans), “driving” his car, and flirting with older women (see attached photos for proof).
We took Tucker for his 6 month checkup this week and he now weighs 16 lbs and 9.5 ozs, and he’s 25.25 inches long. That puts him in the 50th percentile for weight and 10th percentile for length (so he is short and chubby! Ha!). He also got his third round of immunizations and a flu shot. He only cried a little and he seemed to be feeling fine afterwards. His next checkup will be at 9 months.
I hope everyone is enjoying Fall! Please keep us updated on your families, jobs, etc.!
Love,
Deanna
