Our Boy gave these responses at school and the teacher (Ms. Julia) used them to make a wonderful (and hilarious) Mother’s Day card.  Happy Mother’s Day!

3 1/2 years

We’ve had a busy summer and fall.  Our summer was filled with baseball games - the Chattanooga Lookouts (the best part is riding the trolley from the parking lot to the stadium) and the rec-league games for our 7 year old friend Johnathon.  Johnathon’s 3 year old brother Christopher is Tucker’s first official “best” friend, and he loves going to play at his house.  (Someone else’s toys are always better, right?)

Tucker and I took a trip to NC in July to see family, and he had a great time playing with his cousins.  He still talks about riding the gater with Dylan and feeding ducks with Luke and Ava.  He wants to go back to Dad Dad and Grandma’s “far away house” so that he can ride Dad Dad’s tractor again!

The most exciting part of the summer - for me, at least - was the morning when Tucker woke up and, out of the blue, decided to wear underwear.  Diapers have been history ever since.  For many months, I suspected that he knew how to use the potty, but he just didn’t want to.  Once he decided he wanted to do it, all the stickers, prizes, and other tokens of positive reinforcement were worthless.  The pirates’ treasure chest that sat on the back of the toilet for months was obsolete!  He now takes pride in picking out his underwear every morning.  Will it be Lightening McQueen, Mickey Mouse, or Bob the Builder today???  The first morning he wore underwear to school, he walked in and announced to everyone that he was wearing dinosaur underwear…and then he dropped trou to prove it!

For Labor Day, we all took a short trip to Cashiers, NC to visit one of Jason’s friends from Sewanee - Mr. Brian - as Tucker called him.  Tucker enjoyed “fishing” at a nearby falls, although he really just wanted to cast his line and reel it back in, over and over.

His preschool is now back in session and he is learning lots of new things.  He can count to “eleventeen” and he recognizes many letters.  The school had a very exciting visit from the local fire department recently in which the firefighters talked to the kids about fire safety.  He was obviously listening to them very carefully because he can spout out many safety tips (some of which I am not sure he even understands - like calling 911), and he even takes a serious tone when he wags his little forefinger at me and says, “If you see fire in your house, get out!”.

He’s been looking forward to Halloween for a while now, although he keeps changing his mind about what he wants to be.  For the longest time, he wanted to be Superman - mainly because he wears that costume when he plays at Christopher’s house.  Christopher plays Batman, and together, they are the cutest superheros ever.  Anyway, he changed his mind about being Superman for Halloween.  At one point he wanted to be a frog, and then Thomas the Train, now a lizard…so who knows what he will want in 2 weeks?!  We went to the pumpkin sale at our church and I told him to pick out any pumpkin he wanted, and he chose the tiniest pumpkin he could find!!  I just never know what to expect!  Ha!  I will post a Halloween pic after the big day.
